Steve Jobs Day

In an announcement made on Twitter today, California Governor Jerry Brown declared today to be “Steve Jobs Day” in California. Meanwhile, the elite of Silicon Valley assembled at Stanford University to pay their respects to Jobs at a memorial service that was organized by Apple. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Apple sent invitations for the private service to some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley.

Also today, the Discovery Channel ran a 1-hour special about Jobs entitled “iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World.” The hosts of MythBusters, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman honored Jobs with interviews with people whose lives were changed by Jobs, including Stevie Wonder, Tom Brokaw, and Apple employees.

A company-wide celebration of Jobs’ life will be held at Apple headquarters in Cupertino on Wednesday morning.

Steve Jobs was buried a few days after his death on October 5 in a private, non-denominational funeral in Santa Clara County.
