Alfred Hitchcock 1923 film “The White Shadow” discovered

Into each life, some rain must fall. :-)

Tonight at about 21:12 (that’s 9:12 PM for you “real people” out there :-) ), I uploaded a really nice post about the discovery of the first 30-minute portion of a film, “The White Shadow” (1923) which was discovered among nitrocellulose films (nitrate prints) stored in an archive in New Zealand. The film was the first feature film with Alfred Hitchcock in the credits. The re-premiere is in Beverly Hills, California TOMORROW (almost TODAY!), Wednesday.

During upload, the post apparently became corrupted and threw an Internal Server Error (500 error, for you “unreal people” :-) like me).

Reluctantly, I deleted the post after I could not recover an early version. “Functionality” :-) of the blog was restored. I managed to salvage the index terms, which I will use.

I will attempt to upload this post, which hopefully will not break anything. I do want to thank the nice people at GoDaddy hosting, who actually bothered to look into the puzzling incident. That is why I host with them! Thanks, guys! (Managers everywhere – pay your technical people well – they are the folks who keep you afloat!)

Enjoy reading the LA Times online article about the discovery! Just so you don’t miss out on any of the descriptive links from the aborted post, here are some of them:
