Fully-functional Facebook iPad app hidden in iPhone app!

A full-size, fully functional Facebook iPad app has been found hidden inside the current iPhone app, by an engineering student named Marvin Bernal, who gives instructions on getting it running on your own iPad! M.G. Siegler, Apple writer for AOL’s Tech Crunch, says that app is a lot more modern looking than the iPhone app and resembles Twitter’s official iPad app, with a source list on the left to navigate among your Wall, photo, info, and friends sections.

At the top, below the status bar are navigational icons to other sections like “places” and “chat.” If you flip the device to a horizontal orientation, you have a combination of the navigational aids, and the top-bar icons remain.

WIRED’s Charlie Sorrel says:

“In short, Facebook has managed to fully port the signature confusion of its website to a tablet app, a not insignificant achievement.”

Nonetheless, Siegler, who found the app after reading Bernal’s Tweet, calls the app “spectacular.”

The WIRED article cites this article on iClarified entitled “How to Make iPhone Apps iPad Compatible.”
