A book for you…(audio version, too)

Tonight I want to offer links to a book that I read long ago, which has been around thousands of years, and which has been as useful in business as in warfare – The Art of War by Sun Tzu. My copy sits within easy reach, over my desk.

The book is not copyrighted in the United States, and I found two (12) links to text versions (in English) on Project Gutenberg, plus a human-read audio version (also in English) in several formats. I also found these 3 hits (123) on the first page of Google retrievals, and this version on Google Books.

OK, so what is so special about this book? It is the oldest book (over 2500 years old) on military strategy in existence and has influenced both military (Mao ZedongDouglas MacArthurVo Nguyen Giap, and General Pervez Musharraf) and business leaders . It is a short book (my printed version is about 82 pages), so there is no “fluff.” Since many competitive activities (from chess to football to management strategic planning) have been likened to war, the book has broad utility.

To  those of you have have not read The Art of War, I would say only that your competitors probably *HAVE*.
