Tiger Attack

First off, I want to express my sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the 17-year-old boy who was attacked and killed by a 350-pound female Siberian tiger named Tatiana, yesterday at the San Francisco Zoo. My sympathies also go out to the families of the two brothers, who were friends of the 17-year-old, who were subsequently injured by the same tiger, before the tiger had to be killed by police. The entire incident is still under investigation and the brothers are still hospitalized.

My thoughts at the time of the horrible incident also encompassed those in society who think that the world can be made “safe.” It cannot.

What are the odds of a 17-year-old being killed by a Siberian tiger in the city of San Francisco, on Christmas Day?
