The Santa Rosa Job?

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued 60 speeding citations in 3 hours during a special enforcement on U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Rosa on Friday (November 28) morning.

One of those citations was to a man driving 113 miles/hour (181.9 km/hour) in a Mini Cooper (1). The driver was unlicensed and had his vehicle impounded in addition to the citation.

“Speeding is one of the three leading causes of all major injury and fatal traffic collisions in California,” according to CHP Captain Kelly Young. Ah yes… just the “velocity-squared” term in the kinetic energy equation in action. Too bad that you don’t have to take physics to get a driver’s license (imagine how few licensed drivers would be on the road)! :-)

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the number of arrests for driving under the influence was down by over 100 from last year, but the number of fatalities increased.
