2010 Amgen Tour of California
For the first time, the Amgen Tour of California cycling event will occur in May instead of February.
Why did it take them so long?
Granted, February in California can be a great BEACH month, if it doesn’t rain. If it RAINS, February can be a lousy BICYCLING month (especially for spectators)! Also, if the race planners ever think about including a Sierra Nevada region in a leg of the race, even May may be too early, because of snow! February would be out of the question!
The 2010 event will occur May 16-23, 2010. The eight legs of the race (guess that it is an arachnid ) are shown on a map of California on the official site. The official site also has everything from tour news to official tour merchandise to “Things to Know When You Are Looking for a Bike.” There is even a link to learn more about team Jelly Belly!
The varied topography of California (and all of its man-made features) should help to make the race visually exciting for years and years to come!
