Nicole Kidman in Livermore, CA
Yesterday, Nicole Kidman popped up in Livermore in casual attire to shoot scenes for an HBO movie, “Hemingway & Gellhorn,” about the love affair and marriage between Ernest Hemingway (played by British actor Clive Owen) and novelist Martha Gellhorn (played by Kidman).
The film is produced James Gandolfini (“The Sopranos“) and directed by San Francisco director Philip Kaufman (“Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “The Right Stuff,” “The Unbearable Lightness of Being“). A North Livermore property just off Manning Road is the set for a Spanish Civil War battlefield, with a tank and a German luxury car. A group of local riders was used for the battle scenes. Filming was expected to conclude today.
(The article notes that Bing Crosby once owned a lot of land around Livermore, including the current location of the Cedar Mountain Winery on Tesla Road.)
Manning Road is part of one of my “relaxed motorcycle rides,” EXCEPT during evening commute times when it is, believe it or not, used by commuters trying to avoid congestion on I-580.
